I am not really sure how I feel about this -- a little self-conscious maybe because it is  pretty accurate, not really derogatory but points out a lot of silly things about the suburban culture that "white people like" -- topics include toyota priuses, lawyers, arts degrees, and japan

White people are under a lot of pressure to like cooking. Everything in their culture tells them that they need to have a nice kitchen and that they need to cook with organic, fresh ingredients to make delicious, complicated food.

Though any great chef can prepare fantastic meals with a knife and a few pots, white people believe that they need a full cadre of appliances and gadgets in their kitchen in order to live up to the pressure.

If you go into a white person’s kitchen you will find a waffle maker, a rice cooker, a steamer, a food processor, a panini press and a blender. They also have hand powered devices like flour sifters, ravioli crimpers, pizza cutters, potato ricers, and a sushi mat.

But, in order for them to truly enter into whitedom, they need to own the holy grail of white kitchens - the kitchen aid stand mixer (right). They will match this mixer to their kitchen’s color scheme and it will make up the focal point. And much like many religious artifacts, it will remain untouched for months and even years, sitting on the counter to be admired as a testament to their lifestyle.

Stupid Hippie

So in the past I was about the closest thing you all had to a hick, (thus, "Crazy Hick Boy", as dubbed by Randy).  I figure at this point, wheather you know it or not, I'm also the closest thing you have to a hippie.  So I'm going to wear that badge and post something of significance in the world.  The goal is that, in addition to intense grammatical scrutiny and certain ridicule of something that is unrelated to the context of the post, some of you will look at these pictures, and maybe some of you will feel something.  If you actually take a second to think about the amount of resources it takes to produce all of these products and where they come from, its a bit disturing.  What a wasteful culture.  I don't know if you all ever think about this stuff in your daily lives.  I do every second of the day; in what I buy, what I use, where/how I travel, etc..  And even if we think about it, are we willing to sacrifice our comfort and culture of convenience to be conscious consumers and morally/socially responsible people.  Look at these:

The birth of our Lord

By the looks of the banner, the yuletide season is quickly drawing nigh.  I would like to take a moment to remind everyone of the "reason for the season."  You see, years ago, sometime in mid-February (I don't remember the date), a very special boy child was born.  That boy?  Tony Dockus.  Let's wish him a Happy Birthday and obviously, a Merry Christmas as well.

A passing in the fam...

Hey guys, Joyce's dad Buck passed away this past Wednesday.  I was home this weekend for the funeral services.  If any of you wish to send along sympathy cards, the address is as follows:

Things have been tough for her, but she's doing ok.  Her mom, Betty, is alright too, though I'm sure she was medicated during the weekend... not sure how things will play out now.
